Record: 18-0

Malick Mbengue, world languages faculty:

Challenges: “The beginning of the season was a challenge. We were starting off the season with all the club players not being there, so we were short on numbers. We had two or three games without any of the club soccer players. Also, the rescheduling of games added stress. We weren’t sure if some of the games were even going to happen or if the season would continue because of the Omicron variant.”

Successes: “We are undefeated right now as a team, and our team has been playing very well. We are getting hot as a team at the right time as we are preparing for CIF.”

Highlight Athlete: “I’m super excited to see Abbey Cook (‘23) have a full season with us this year because last year was a weird season and she couldn’t play most of the games, which was disappointing given the amazing season she had as a freshman, breaking a lot of records. Also, the strength of the freshmen class is a great highlight. It is rare to have a team this successful with so many freshmen and that is a great thing for the program going forward.”

Taren Duffy (‘22):

Challenges: “We have a very young team, so I’d say some challenges were building our chemistry. Also, we’ve had some injuries and it’s been a challenge to fill their positions.”

Successes: “Being undefeated has been a success and I also think that we’ve showed a lot of unity as a team.

Favorite Memory: “I really like the bus rides home when we all get together and talk about our days.”
