Coach Rachel Lewin:
Challenges: “As a coaching staff, it was very important for us to teach the athletes the game, but also to implement fun elements into practices and games. So even though learning all of the rules, skill sets, and the general idea of the game was challenging at times, we had fun doing it.
Successes: “Therefore, I think one of the biggest successes of the season was towards the end of the season when our team was playing their best and it showed all of the hard work (and morning practices) were well worth it!”
Highlight Athlete: “Our team made strides throughout this season. A majority of our players had never played water polo before, so the growth that occurred was very inspiring. Although all of our players made an impact, our captains Izzy Kim (‘24) and Madeline Lilley (‘22) stepped up and led the team immensely.
Madeline Lilley (‘22):
Challenges: “Some challenges were that a lot of our team was pretty inexperienced and obviously, coming from a COVID season, we didn’t have a season at all last year.”
Successes: “With that though, our successes were that we adapted pretty quickly, and our newest players ended up really getting into the sport really quickly and really well.”
Favorite Memory: “I really enjoyed having conversations with all my teammates during passing every day because a lot of people were underclassmen that I wouldn’t normally talk to. I also just enjoyed the bus and van rides back from each game when we would blast music.”
